My Dream Gadget

Sony PRS-600 Reader Touch Edition
Price: 299$

I have hordes of eBooks but I just cannot read them all. Sitting in front of the computer is a strenuous thing and soon I get to lose the drive. I have been searching for eBook Readers. Kindle offers good ones but recently Sony has launched this gadget that completely caters to my needs. This model comes with a responsive, menu-driven 6" touchscreen display that makes navigation, note taking and highlighting using a finger quick and easy. Features of the Touch Edition include a pre-loaded Oxford American English Dictionary, five adjustable font sizes, Memory Stick PRO Duo and SD memory card slots. Available in red, black or silver color, which is cool!

So my next gadget on the list? No points for guessing!

If Tomorrow Never Comes

I had been going through a bleak phase where living was a miracle and with each passing day I cursed myself for still being alive. I wanted to say so many things to my close ones-I could not, for I was a shy girl who would dare not go against the slightest impropriety of her so called values. I could not protest the indecency going on around me nor could I express my feelings for my dear ones. And I thought I say it best when I say nothing at all. Then one day I read this beautiful story. I learned life is beautiful and desirable, so we should try and live for the moment. I learned expressing is as important as feeling it. I believe, if tomorrow never comes for me let me vent out my feelings right now, right at this moment. I bet I would never want to live an unpleasant life I had lived once. Having said this I must also tell you that we all should change for the better, we should change with the world but we should never change our values they are like roots--once shaken the whole tree stumbles down.

There was this guy suffering from terminal disease. The poor boy was not even allowed to go out, his parents prospered him with everything big and small to make it up. One day the boy decided to go out. His mother succumbed to his wish and eventually gave permission. Walking down the block was a pleasure he thought he would die for. The sky was bright, blue and open, the spring flowers all red and yellow were adorning the road with each wind call. He could smell the fragrance all over and love was all around him. He was a happy man. He browsed through many stores, never thought of shopping anything though for he had so many of those lavish at home and the weather alone did the wonder who cares for materials. The air was so fulfilling! Walking all along the block he saw a beautiful girl. It was like love at first sight and he walked up to the girl. The girl at the counter smiled and asked “ can I help you with anything, sir?” The guy could only think that it was the most beautiful smile he had ever seen. He realized it was a music store and stuttered, “ well I’d like to buy a CD”. He grabbed the first one that he could have got hold of without even looking at it and gave her the money. “ Do you want me to wrap it?” The guy was overwhelmed and the girl went inside to pack the CD. The boy thrilled, struggled with his disposition, took the wrapped CD and shuffled his way back home. It was a perfect day out; life could not be better than this!

Love was on the air. From that day on he visited the music store everyday and each day he bought a CD. And each day the girl wrapped it up and the guy stored them unopened in his closet. He never found the urge to open it for he had all those latest music in his collection. It was just an excuse. A CD, a book or even a coke-- it would have made no difference for him at all! The beautiful store girl was dream come true for him.

He was a shy boy, and although he tried he couldn’t ask the girl out. The next day the guy set out for the store with a strong heart. Like as on previous occasions he bought a CD and the girl wrapped it up as usual. This continued for some time----------One day while she was busy, he left his telephone number on the counter and rushed out.

The next day the guy didn’t visit the store and the girl called him. His mother answered the phone wondering who it could be. It was the girl from the music store!

The mother started crying. The girl asked what was the matter. “Don’t you know he is no more”! There was a long pause..

Later that afternoon the mother entered his son’s room. She decided to start with his closet and to her surprise she saw a big pile of unopened CDs wrapped in festive paper. She was curious and she opened one. She tore open the package and noticed a slip of paper that said: Hi, you are cute, I would love to meet you, Let’s go out sometime, Sophie.

A drowsy numbness engulfed all her senses as she continued opening another and another and another. Every single CD contained a slip of paper that said the same!!!!!!!!!!

That’s the way life is, don’t wait to show those special people the way you feel. I guess, expressing is as important as feeling it. Tomorrow could be too late.

August: The Month of Gratitude

Thank you

AUGUST: THE MONTH OF GRATITUDE

God gave you a gift of 86,400 seconds today. Have you used one to say "thank you?"
William A. Ward

Try saying this
Try saying this every time you feel like and you don't
Try saying this when you mean and when you don't
Try saying this if and when you down and you are not

And see the difference.

The smile widening, nod frequenting, hello intensifying
The eyes sparkling, heart accommodating
The world cheering

Let's make this month
The month of gratitude
Month of admiration
Month of appreciation
We all need this badly.

C'mon let's prove the world is not that bleak
Let's shrug off the hang ups and get into it
Start it, there's no better time than now.

THANK YOU ALL.

Family heals everything

My sister, along with her two little kids, are visiting us. It's been two long years that we had been together. Obviously, the joy is manifold. The kids are driving me crazy and I am lucky to have my bone unbroken still. Things have been always like this. The only thing is that the joy is increasing exponentially. That happens when you have a wonderful, lovely, supportive family, which I do. I am blessed. My parents, two sisters, two brother-in-laws and three kids from them. It's a small world with undefined wonder, amusement, love and fun. We get to spend only a few days in the whole year, all together. We have a blast and try to make the best of of those few days. Then the moment comes. The moment of separation - heart breaking, poignant and numbing. I barely make it to the airport for that kills me. But, this time I would and trust me, I would not cry. I would be the happiest. The reason? I am going to accompany them to the airport, to the airbus, to Dubai!

Don't get jealous. Your turn will also come, soon. So, here's to the trip! Wish me luck!

A hug is worth a thousand words. A friend is worth more.

On Friendship Day, I offer you my love, wishes, prayers and this ageless poem on the beauty of friendship.

When to the session of sweet silent thought
I summon up remembrance of things past,
I sigh the lack of many a thing I sought,
And with old woes new wail my dear time's waste:
Then can I drown an eye, unused to flow,
For precious friends hid in deathšs dateless night,
And weep afresh love's long since canceled woe,
And moan the expense of many a vanishšd sight:
Then can I grieve at grievances foregone,
And heavily from woe to woe tell o'er
The sad account of fore-bemoaned moan,
Which I new pay as if not paid before.
But if the while I think on thee, dear friend,
All losses are restored and sorrows end.

Say no to plastic

Hi all!
How are you doing?

I just want to share this awful incident with you all. I went shopping the other day and my eco friendly conscience told me that enough with plastic bags and I should set an example before others, right here, right now. So, I bought some beautiful cloth bags for carrying my stuffs. A few other enthusiast were there as well queued up for cloth bags. Feeling quite elated for doing something good, hoping to ask others to do the same, I rounded off my shopping abruptly. I wanted to come out a happy man, but at the clearance counter the security tucked my cloth bag into a plastic one endorsing the shopping mall!!

Can you beat that! I felt like laughing with frustration, I was enraged may be. Later, I could wonder at our lack of awareness! The consciousness is too little and too less.

I was appalled and dumbfounded to experience something like that. But I learned a lesson, someone has to start somewhere and I could be my own messiah in life! let's start is from HERE, from NOW!

My journey to happiness...

"Being happy doesn't mean that everything is perfect. It means that you've decided to look beyond the imperfections."

1. The happiest people are those who spend the least time alone and pursue intimacy and personal growth

2. Happy people don't judge themselves by what others do or have. That is, they don't compare themselves with others.

3. The strongest link to happiness is a willingness to forgive others.

4. Follow your heart. Once in a while indulge in pampering yourself with a good pedicure, manicure or a foot massage. Eat chocolates, hot dogs, junkies and all alluring stuffs that you are not supposed to have.

5. Appreciate, thank and praise more often. Express yourself long and aloud.

6. Do not carry your baggage from past

7. Devote more time to people who matter. Spend quality time with your family, with friend with parents, kids.

8. Revive good old memories. Once in a week make sure to talk to someone who had once been very close to you.

9. Let go, forgive, forget, move on. When someone says that you are a bad person it doesn't really make you bad, isn't it? You must not be slaves to others thoughts. So, ignore and just let go.

10. Expect less from others. A lot of unhappiness occurs when we do not get in return what we expect. When you buy a gift for someone, make sure you do it just out of the love and not presuming the return.

11. Increase your self esteem. Instead of nagging over a crooked nose try to live with it. Instead highlight how beautiful your eyes are!

12. Motivate yourself. Self motivation is the best possible thing to happen. Work harder, set a target and think positive.

13. Have your values right. Do not mix up your sense of values.

14. Take a break, kill the monotony. Go for a pleasure trip or unplanned adventure - it surely helps. Just freak out, yell, sing, dance, let out your emotions once in a while.

15. Capitalize on little little things in life. Play with the children, have chocolate, flirt with friends, make faces, be a child. This will add up to your emotional bank account.

16. Stay fit, keep healthy, be conscious. Health should be the no. 1 priority in life. An unhealthy man is essentially not happy.

'Happiness is nothing more than good health and a bad memory.'
